Police: Man hit, killed by driver in Monroeville

A man was struck and killed by a driver Saturday night in Monroeville.

Allegheny County 911 was notified around 9:30 p.m. of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian on the 4000 block of William Penn Highway, Allegheny County police said in a release. First responders found Thomas Tate, 48, in critical condition. 

The victim, identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office, died after being taken to a local hospital.

Police say the driver of the vehicle remained on scene.
