Woman hospitalized after being struck by vehicle in Squirrel Hill

Pittsburgh Police said a woman was hospitalized in critical condition Friday evening after she was hit by a vehicle in Squirrel Hill.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, it happened just before 7 p.m. near Forbes Avenue and Denniston Street.

Police said the initial investigation indicates the woman was crossing Forbes near the middle of the block when she was struck. The woman was not in a crosswalk, according to police. A bystander helped render aid until medics arrived.

Police said the woman sustained injuries to both of her legs and her head.

The woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said. The driver of the vehicle involved stayed at the scene.
