Woman killed in Homewood stabbing

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

A woman was stabbed to death early Monday morning in Pittsburgh’s Homewood section, according to police.

A 911 call shortly before 5 a.m. sent officers to a home on Lyric Street in Homewood West for reports of a stabbing, said Public Safety spokeswoman Emily Bourne.

Police provided first aid to the woman, who had been stabbed in the chest, until medics arrived, Ms. Bourne said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified as 27-year-old Raneisha Scott, of Homewood.

Ms. Bourne said that “a possible altercation” might have preceded the stabbing.

The investigation is ongoing.
