River S. Icenhour, railroad law practice group, and Matthew S. Faher, workers’ compensation group, joined Burns White LLC as associates. Mr. Icenhour represents Class I and short-line railroads in cases that involve allegations of personal and occupational injuries and wrongful death. Mr. Faher focuses his practice on defending employers and insurance companies in Pennsylvania.

Awards and Honors

Pittsburgh congregation Dor Hadash received a national award for its work to aid refugees, asylum seekers and displaced people in their community. Dor Hadash synagogue received the Trailblazer Award from HIAS, a leading international refugee aid organization. HIAS was founded over a century ago to help Jewish immigrants and refugees, and has since expanded its work to help displaced people in need throughout the world.

Mid-Atlantic Media, LLC expanded its media holdings with the acquisition of Pittsburgh Parent magazine, which was sold by Honey Hill Publishing Inc. and its owner/publisher Lynn Honeywill-Norris. Terms of the deal were not released.

The Mon Valley Boys’ Academy (MVBA) announced the launch of its Bridge to Success program for boys in grades 5 through 8. The afterschool and Saturday enrichment program began on Oct. 1, at Zion Apostolic Assembly in Pitcairn. The program aims to support the academic and personal development of young boys through flexible, targeted instruction. It is free to all participants, including transportation for students in the Mon Valley area. Snacks and activities are also included to create a supportive, engaging environment. S.R. Snodgrass, P.C., an accounting and consulting firm, opened its new Eastern Pennsylvania Headquarters in Conshohocken.

PPG announced that it has signed a strategic agreement with flooring leader Shaw Industries Group, Inc. to offer the PPG Flooring line of resinous flooring products. The products will be available to Shaw’s customers in the commercial property market via its Patcraft brand. 

Herbein + Co. Inc. announced that it will open a new office in November in Warrendale’s Thorn Hill Corporate Center.
