WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris will spend the next few days in Pittsburgh to prepare for Tuesday’s debate against former President Donald Trump.
Ms. Harris is scheduled to arrive on Thursday. She will stay in town for several days to get ready for her first confrontation with Trump, according to a source familiar with her plans, speaking on condition of anonymity.
The Washington Post, which first reported on Ms. Harris’ schedule, said she also was expected to take breaks to meet voters in the area.
Along with Philadelphia and its suburbs, statewide Democrats need a strong vote in Allegheny County in order to carry the most populous battleground state.
Ms. Harris campaigned in Pittsburgh on Labor Day with President Joe Biden, while her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, was in town on Wednesday, the first day of a two-day swing through Pennsylvania.
The day after Tuesday’s debate, Ms. Harris and Mr. Biden are scheduled to mark 9/11 at the Flight 93 memorial near Shanksville, Pa., Ground Zero in New York City, and the Pentagon in Arlington, Va.
