Pittsburgh man accused of disrupting Trump Johnstown rally has charges dropped

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — Charges were dropped Thursday against a Pittsburgh man who was arrested for disrupting Donald Trump’s Aug. 30 rally in Johnstown, authorities said.

Stephen Weiss, 36, appeared before District Judge Brian Subich, of Johnstown, where Cambria County prosecutors withdrew four counts of resisting arrest.

Mr. Weiss pleaded guilty to a summary charge of disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a fine.

Johnstown police said Mr. Weiss went over a security barrier and climbed the press riser during the Republican Party presidential nominee’s rally at 1st Summit Arena @ Cambria County War Memorial.

More than 6,000 people turned out to hear the former president speak.

Police accused Mr. Weiss of running onto the arena floor, jumping onto the media stage and yelling toward Trump, who was speaking on the main stage at the opposite end of the venue.

Mr. Weiss was quickly apprehended after being Tased.

Mr. Weiss was interviewed by the U.S. Secret Service before being turned over to Johnstown police.
