French bistro Poulet Bleu announces reopening date

Lawrenceville bistro Poulet Bleu has announced that it will reopen Oct. 21, after a burst pipe in late 2022 left its future in doubt.

The restaurant, 3517 Butler St., served a French-inspired menu and expects to return to the same approach. A Monday statement from the owners promised that duck confit, steak-frites, Parisian gnocchi and escargots will return, as well as French onion soup.

“Poulet Bleu was always about more than food — it was about creating an experience,” co-owner Tolga Sevdik said in the statement.

The popular bistro, which opened in February 2016, is part of the Richard DeSchantz Restaurant Group, which also includes Meat & Potatoes, täkō, Coop de Ville and gi-jin. Poulet Bleu was known not only for its food but for its Parisian-inspired décor.

A Pittsburgh Post-Gazette review noted in 2016, several months after it opened, that it was “a softer restaurant than others in the DeShantz Group, with floral wallpaper and blue tile accents in a room bathed in candlelight.”

Poulet Bleu will be open for dinner service only, Tuesday through Saturday, 5-10 p.m. Reservations will be taken through Open Table.
