You might see some local faces while watching the next season of “The Pitt.”

A casting call put out by Movie Casting PGH received such a large volume of responses that the window to apply appears to have quickly closed, per a Friday Facebook post from the Pittsburgh-based business, which noted the “handful of” September shooting days are now fully booked. The post promised updates should other opportunities arise.

“Thanks for your overwhelming response for ‘The Pitt,’” the post said. “We know everyone is really excited to participate on such a wonderful show.”

The Friday announcement followed a call for background actors for Sept. 17-19 on the social platform, which was reported by KDKA-TV Thursday night and appears to have been deleted.

“The Pitt’s” second season began production in June. Executive producer and Carnegie Mellon University alumni John Wells said in April that the show would return for filming sometime in the “second or third” week of September. Season 1 filmed at Allegheny General Hospital for three days in September 2024

Season 2 is slated to release in January 2026, one year after the first season dropped to viewers on HBO Max.

The show’s first season was nominated for 13 Emmy Awards, including best drama and best actor, for star Noah Wyle. Sunday’s 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony, hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze, will broadcast live on CBS and stream on Paramount+.

The medical drama nabbed its first win at Sept. 6’s Creative Arts Emmys, with Shawn Hatosy winning best guest actor in a drama. During his speech, the Associated Press reported, he highlighted Wyle as a beacon. “Your leadership, your performance on ‘The Pitt’ is extraordinary,” Hatosy said. ”It is unbelievable being on the other side of what you're bringing."

Most of Season 1 was filmed at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, Calif. — where Season 2 is currently under production.
